John Gornall

There has already been too much bad news this year and I was very sad to hear that club member John Gornall died at home last Saturday 21st November, those who knew John will be aware that he had not been in good health for a while.

John was a longstanding member of the garden club and a regular attender at the speakers meetings along with his wife Margaret. In recent years he was also a valued and much appreciated member of the club hut team on Sunday mornings, shifting bags of compost with an energy that belied his age! Even if you don’t recognise the name the chances are that John has put bags of compost in your car or barrow and maybe given advice based on his many years of gardening and farming.

John was a lovely unassuming man, always ready to help even with the tedious tasks. Those of us who had the pleasure of spending time in his company will miss him.

We send warmest thoughts to Margaret and their family.

Sales Hut Restricted Opening

Historically, trading at the hut has been very quiet in July and August and so we have decided to only open one Sunday in July and in August. The hut will be open 19th July and 16th August and then again in September as normal.

The Sales Hut is now Open on Sunday mornings. The number of visitors to the hut site at any one time will again be restricted to allow for observance of social distancing so you may be asked to wait for a short time before coming on site.

The Sales hut will be open on Sunday 22 March 2020 for the last time until further notice also there will be no Speaker meetings. This is in line with Government guidelines in the current situation.
